Got questions? We've got answers

Entrepreneurs

We provide different incubation programs, 100% online, that help early-stage entrepreneurs to structure and develop their entrepreneurial projects. All our programs provide:

  • 3-month access to our learn-by-doing proven methodology.
  • 18h of one to one mentorship with your personal support.
  • “Checkpoints”, online meetings with your cohort and our team to deepen the work on each critical aspect of your business and leverage the collective intelligence of the group.
  • Lifetime access to a peers community.
  • Participation in bi-annual competition to compete for a cash prize of USD 5.000 and visibility amongst the partner organizations

We support early stage entrepreneurs in the targeted sectors that have an MVP/prototype with little business structure, or an early-stage company. The program is 100% online, so you can easily join from anywhere in the MENA region or Pakistan. As of today, the program is available in English.

We choose promising entrepreneurs who are proposing products or services in MedTech, AI or Genomics that solve real problems and have the dedication to make them a reality. The selection process includes an online application and possibly a video interview to ensure that accepted entrepreneurs are ready for the incubation program. We evaluate applicants based on:

  • The stage of maturity of your project at this moment (from MVP  to early-stage company)
  • The needs you currently have (should be about getting external validation, planning your go-to market and have a clear roadmap for the next months)
  • Your understanding of the problem you’re solving for your customers
  • Your passion to solve this problem and launch your business
  • The innovative nature of your project

The best tip we can give you for your application: show us you’ve really thought about your business and the problem you’re solving, and that you’re ready to put all of your energy into making it a reality.‍

Nope. Just fill out your profile and then your online program application – that’s all you need for us.

You can do it here

We accept both teams and solo founders to our program.

Once accepted to the program you will enter the “matching” phase, 10-15 days dedicated to finding the perfect mentor match for you. During matching, basic information about your project will be accessible to our community of mentors and they will invite you to initial meetings so you can get to know each other. You can attend as many meetings as you want, but eventually you will have to choose your preferred mentor.

The process of matching is one where you as entrepreneurs must be active participants by answering mentors’ invitations and letting us know how your meetings go within the indicated deadlines. We send all accepted entrepreneurs the important dates and deadlines of the matching process that should be respected. A consistent lack of response from an entrepreneur will be taken as a lack of interest in the program and can lead to their acceptance being revoked.

Your mentor is your guide throughout the program, someone who can understand the ins and outs of your business and, week after week, help you validate your strategy for each critical stage, from better targeting your customers to having a 3 years growth plan. Mentors support you through collaboration on the platform as well as in-person video chats once a week.

If you know someone who you’d like to join your project as your mentor you can invite them to apply to join Al Borg MedTech Accelerator as a mentor here. If approved, they will join our onboarding session and then select your project during the “Matching” period. Like other mentors, they will have to sign a Mentorship Agreement with a confidentiality clause prior to accessing your project on the platform.

A typical week is a blend of online work, live video calls with your mentors, peers and the Bridge team, and activities to learn more about your customers and develop your prototype. You’ll work on our online platform following our step by step methodology, you’ll meet with your mentor for a 1-2h conference call to brainstorm and validate the work previously submitted, you’ll meet 1h with your cohort for either a “Checkpoint” about the current tool or a technical session, and you’ll interact with peers and access articles and extra resources in our online community.

Many activities outside the platform are also recommended to validate your hypothesis, such as customer interviews, focus groups, competitive research, etc.

The “Checkpoints” are the core of the program experience, and the best opportunity to talk about your strategy with others and overcome challenges with peers. We strongly recommend that you attend all of them, or have someone from your team attend if you’re not available for any reason.

The more time you’re able to put in, the better the results! We’ve structured the program so that you should be able to complete all activities within 6 to 8 hours per week (including a 1h video call with your mentor and another with your cohort), but there are always opportunities for you to go deeper and spend more time on each stage to significantly develop and validate your ideas. If you can’t commit to at least 6 hours per week over 4 months, this probably isn’t the program for you. You can also divide some of the work with other people on your team (if any).

Yes, entrepreneurs who successfully complete the incubation program do receive a certificate.

You will need to be able to use a laptop or desktop computer (not tablet or smartphone) and preferably one of these browsers: Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox. We expect you to have a strong, reliable internet connection both for your online work on the platform and to participate in the Checkpoints and online mentors calls via video conference.

We hope that our reputation speaks for itself on this topic. We treat your application & program data as confidential information. They are protected by our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, and your mentor will also sign a Mentorship Agreement that includes a confidentiality clause.

Of course! Our program was made for collaboration with your entire team. You can easily invite your teammates to join your project and seamlessly collaborate on its development. You can work at the same time as a teammate, but note, however, that our platform does not allow for live collaboration as with google docs – you will only see a teammates edits after refreshing the page and you should be careful not to “override” one another’s inputs.

We support early stage entrepreneurs with an MVP/prototype with little business structure, or an early-stage company that works in MedTech, AI or Genomics sectors.

Being a mentor will benefit you in several ways. First, it will allow you to meet and connect with entrepreneurs working on cutting edge technologies in the targeted fields, anytime, anywhere through our online platform. It will also enable you to develop your own skills as a mentor, exposing yourself to the latest innovation and entrepreneurship methodologies, while helping a startup business to grow.

Mentoring with Al Borg MedTech Accelerator is an impactful experience that you can do from pretty much anywhere where you have internet.

As a mentor, you will guide your entrepreneur throughout our 4-month structured program. You will be the person who can understand the ins and outs of their business and, week after week, help them to validate their strategy for each critical stage, from targeting the right customers, to building a 3-year growth plan. You will support your entrepreneur through virtual collaboration on the platform as well as video chats once a week. We also encourage any connection or extra resource that you can share with them. Our program is made of 8 business tools:

  • Value Proposition
  • Competition Map
  • Stakeholder Map
  • Business Model & Marketing
  • Pricing & Business Viability
  • Financial Projections
  • Impact Plan
  • Growth Plan

These tools will guide you as well as the entrepreneur in effectively covering and validating each critical aspect of the business planning process.

Yes! While we do have many mentors who have been founders themselves, we believe different professionals can bring different expertise and skill sets that can be very useful to innovate or to enter a new sector. We believe in transferable skills and we are sure that whatever skills you can bring, some entrepreneur out there needs!

Yes — once you have officially been accepted as a mentor, you will be invited to follow an onboarding training where we’ll explain our innovation-based entrepreneurship methodology and how our platform works. You’ll get the chance to meet other mentors, and of course we’ll be here to answer all of your questions! You will also join an online community of mentors to spark conversations, share extra resources, and keep learning!

Yes, you can! Our only ask is that you be realistic with your time commitment: we don’t want anyone to overcommit or raise expectations for the other party that they won’t be able to meet.

Like you, the entrepreneurs go through a selection process once they’ve applied to join our program. Al Borg MedTech Accelerator is open to any entrepreneur that fits our selection criteria and is ready to commit for the duration of the program. We have developed a selection process that evaluates the stage of maturity of the business and the commitment level of the entrepreneur, but does not inadvertently discriminate on the basis of education level, socio-economic status, country of origin, current location, gender, race, or any other factor not directly related to the business and the nature of it.

Our selection criteria are the following: the applicant needs to be the founder or the main initiator of the project; the project should be in one of the following phases of development: Project or Minimum Viable Product; Validated or recently launched Startup. The applicant should treat this project as their priority at the moment – we are unable to accept applicants who are not serious about the development of their ventures; the applicant should also have the desire to be part of a special community of global early-stage entrepreneurs and be willing to play an active role within this community.

Our platform has been built to facilitate collaboration. Once you have access to the workspace of an entrepreneur you’ll be able to work together through comments on every aspect of their business plan, and you’ll also have access to your own team video room embedded in our platform, so that every week you can meet and talk as if you were in the same room, in just a few clicks. Apart from your private project workspace, you will have an online group with all of the participants from your cohort (mentors and entrepreneurs) to share articles and resources, ask questions, and overcome challenges together. Lastly, you’ll also have one-to-one messaging with your mentee(s) available, and each team can decide (or not) to use alternative communication channels such as phone, WhatsApp, email, Slack, etc.

Join us if you have a passion to help aspiring and established entrepreneurs in the MedTech, AI and Genomics sectors  — the greater the diversity in mentor profiles and backgrounds, the greater the chances of creating fruitful matches.

Professionals from MedTech, Genomics, and AI are welcome to apply, you only need to have a minimum of 5 years of post-academic professional experience . For young professionals with a few years of professional experience, we will ask extra questions and a short application video. A certain familiarity with entrepreneurship should be demonstrated in the applicant’s profile, either by having worked with entrepreneurs in the past, launched a personal venture, or cultivated a passion for the topic. Applications are evaluated individually by the Al Borg MedTech Accelerator team, and after you’re accepted you’ll be invited to one of our online onboarding training sessions for mentors to learn more about their role and our methodology.

Mentor applicants should show a passion for helping aspiring entrepreneurs and should be ready to commit in order to ensure quality mentorship and a productive business relationship. Mentors can always choose when to work with a project or not, but once a commitment is made, the time requirement is approximately 1.5 hrs per week for the duration of the entrepreneur’s incubation program (4 months).

Start your application process by creating a Mentor Accoun there and filling out our application form. We’ll notify you once your application has been approved and we’ll invite you to an onboarding call to give you a warm welcome, acquaint you to your role and our methodology and explain how to explore projects.

Anywhere you have an internet connection! Our accelerator program, is entirely online and we have mentors from 50+ countries, so you can easily join from anywhere in the world.

Being a mentor for Al Borg MedTech Accelerator is a 100% volunteer experience in which you’ll impact the life of an entrepreneur when it’s most needed and learn top-notch entrepreneurship methodologies.
