The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and Bridge for Billions, along with the support of Forest and Farm Facility (FFF), have joined forces to create an incubation program that will support up to 20 enterprises with the potential to restore natural ecosystems in Ghana. The Restoration Factory has been created to support the emergence of commercially-viable, community-inclusive, and climate-resilient businesses that restore ecosystems and preserve landscapes.

Program scope

This program supports early-stage businesses based in the Ashanti region in Ghana within the agroforestry value chain. We focus on enterprises that contribute to Forest Restoration and Landscape Conservation. Key sub-sectors include, but are not limited to:

  • Agroforestry: Integrating trees with crops like cocoa, cassava, and plantain for environmental and economic benefits.
  • Non-Timber Forest Products: Sustainable harvesting of honey, mushrooms, shea butter, medicinal plants, and fruits.
  • Cocoa Farming: Shade trees and intercropping with food crops to boost cocoa yields and farm resilience.
  • Charcoal & Firewood: Sustainable charcoal production and briquettes from agricultural residues to reduce deforestation.
  • Eco-tourism & Conservation: Developing eco-tourism to protect forests, create jobs, and raise environmental awareness.
  • Agricultural Value Chains: Value-added processing for crops like cassava, maize, and yam to boost incomes.
  • Landscape Restoration: Tree nurseries and reforestation on degraded lands for ecosystem restoration and job creation.
  • Technological Applications: Water management, monitoring systems, and logistics tech to enhance sustainability and efficiency.

Matching phase:
February
One of the most exciting parts of the program! Entrepreneurs and mentors will have the opportunity to meet each other online.

Once they have had several introductions, both mentees and mentors will submit their rankings in order to let us know who they think will be the best fit for their project's needs or who they could make the most impact on.

Based on the rankings, we will make the best mentor-mentee pairs.
Incubation
March - August
Now all entrepreneurs are ready to begin a 5-month incubation period to continue developing their business while getting the support they need from the mentors and group sessions to learn even more about the restoration sector, and network with other budding entrepreneurs.
Pitching and Final Event
July
Join us in helping you craft a Pitch Deck that is ready and shareable for stakeholders and inventors. You will receive a training session to help guide your pitch deck and how to pitch successfully. At the end, top participants will be invited to share their pitch in front of program participants.
